Technology No. 65503

A seedling designated as FN 3505-344 is the 344th seeding from the Fruiting Nursery of progeny 3505 = GoldRush x Pristine, a cross made by Jules Janick in 1996. Seedlings derived from this cross were planted in the Old Horticulture Farm of Purdue University in 1997 in a closely spaced planting called the Fruiting Nursery. The 344th tree first fruited in 2001, picked on August 21, 2001, described as a yellow apple with a blush, three inches in diameter, and subsequently, evaluated in storage on October 3, 2001, November 20, 2001, and February 12, 2002. On February 12, 2002, after nearly six months of refrigerated storage, our notes indicate, "crisp flesh." The apple was propagated by grafting on MM111 rootstock and planted at the Meigs Farm on March 18, 2003. It was evaluated again on September 4, 2002, August 26, 2003, September 1, 2004, September 2, 2005, and September 4, 2009. The apple is yellow to pale yellow, with an attractive, porcelain finish and crisp flesh.
