FN3503-318 - Apple

A seedling designated as FN 3505-344 is the 344th seeding from the Fruiting Nursery of progeny GoldRush x Pristine, a cross made by Jules Janick in 1996. Seedlings derived from this cross were planted in the Old Horticulture Farm of Purdue University in 1997 in a closely spaced planting called the Fruiting Nursery. The 344th tree first fruited in 2001, was picked on August 2001, and described as a yellow apple with a blush, three inches in diameter, and subsequently, evaluated in storage. After nearly six months of refrigerated storage, our notes indicate, "crisp flesh." It was evaluated again on September 4, 2002, August 26, 2003, September 1, 2004, September 2, 2005, and September 4, 2009. It is a yellow to pale apple with an attractive porcelain finish and crisp flesh. This apple is derived from two scab resistant parents and has a 75 percent chance of having the Vf gene that confers scab resistance. Scab lesions have not been observed on the leaves or fruit.
