"Sera" Child-Resistant Pill Organizer

Weekly medication box with size-based locking buttons that are easy for adults with arthritis but child-safe.
Technology No. 2019-JUDG-68526

Sera is a child-resistant container (CRC) that functions as a weekly pill organizer. Designers at Purdue University have designed a child-resistant pill organizer which helps users of medication, particularly among the aging population, who want to ensure a child cannot access the user's medication. The design employs locking buttons that can only be opened by fingers of a certain length. This pill organizer is easier for users with dexterity issues (e.g. arthritis) unlike existing child-resistant pill containers, which largely require strong hands to be opened.
